Bowlsome

Logo, Brand, Signage

About 

Bowlsome approached the studio with a simple tagline: ‘Wholesome goodness served in the simplest of vessels’. This tagline was the jumping point for the brand.

Bowlsome was a store front eatery located across various locations in South Australia which focused on fresh and wholesome locally sourced ingredients presented in takeaway bowls. Since developing the brand Bowlsome is now sold as pre-made meals at various Drakes, Tony & Mark’s, Romeo’s, OTR’s and Foodland’s across the state, with the additional option to purchase online.

Overview

The Brief

The client requested a minimal look for the logo and brand to make sure that the focus stayed on the colourful ingredients served at their store.

Outcome

The outcome was a clean logo that both suggested a bowl with ingredients and a smiling face.

Bowlsome’s brand imagery speaks to the textures used in store as well as the fresh ingredients found in the bowls.

I designed both internal and external signage. The first location opened for Bowlsome was at Henley Beach, South Australia. I designed the street signage to wrap around the building as one continuous piece. The logo was cut in and backlit with LED’s for legibility at all times of the day. The menu board inside this location was printed and mounted on a backlit board. The second location was at Franklin Street, Adelaide. I took a more minimal approach to this signage, using a half pill shape to mirror the round shapes of the logo. The internal menu signage here was completely digital to allow for easy seasonal changes to the menu.
